After reading the awesome case study by @dzianis and stumbling over his awesome recipes in the post http://www.apexforum.com/threads/ranking-a-site-without-original-content.91/page-2#post-1009

I thought of some other resources for IFTT recipes I had seen:

This whole article on leanvertising goes into the basics of how and why.

    The takeaway recipes are;

Anyone got more? And maybe a notation idea?
    My first idea would be

    [IF] -> [condition] -> [action]

Maybe we can collect and share quite a bunch that way.

Is there a way with IFTTT to send something to your own private API? For instance take content from a feed, spin it with WordAi, post it on your blog? I guess the easiest way might be just a WordPress plugin that automatically does the API request for you, but I was wondering if there was a way to do that within IFTTT.

    You could always do:
New Reddit Post -> Make Post on Blog
New Tumblr Tumblr -> Make Post on Blog
    You could also do
New Post on Blog -> Submit Reddit Link
but if you aren't careful with that you could easily get your account banned.

If you are just looking to build up a social media community you could always just repost things from one social media site to another. For instance:
New hot post in subreddit "foodporn" -> Add pin to Pinterest board

With that being said I think the best ones are the ones that @dzianis posted.

    What about the home ones?

At night turn your phone on silent.
In the morning brew a cup of coffee.
Notify when there is free stuff on Craigslist.
Text your girlfriend when you are leaving work.
Turn off Wifi when you leave work or home.
Turn down the thermostat when you leave home and turn it back up when you leave work.

You get the most of it once you poke through IFTTT channels for a while. Splitting them into two major groups like "donors" and "actors" would make sense. Not all channels have "triggers" and "actions" you'd want them to have so it's hard to theorize without looking at everything available and clicking this and that. E.g. Pinterest or YouTube would be amazing "donors" of content but they are not, because all their "triggers" depend on manual actions (e.g. "you like a video" or "you like a pin"). Whereas other channels have triggers like "new content appears in keyword search" or "new posts in XXX thread appear" which are great hands-free "donor" scenarios. But like I said you need to see what's available first.

The most obvious usage would be to broadcast your own updates over several channels. My case study, however is a bit on the "growthhacky" side and is aimed at cross-posting 'cool' content to other platforms, which is what I've seen most results with.

It looks like IFTTT doesn't have the best coverage for this but you can also use it for social media monitoring:

New Twitter Post With Company Name -> Evernote/Email/Text/Whatever (However you want to be notified)
New Reddit Post With Company Name -> Same Thing
New Post on Any Facebook Page You Own -> Same Thing
New Post With Instagram Hashtag -> Same Thing

This could be used for reputation management, or also for identifying good places to market your site. For instance anytime on Reddit says "business forum" I could have it send me an email so I can respond by recommending Apex Forum.

Zapier is also worth checking out, they do similar stuff but with a lot more channels, especially productivity apps. I'm using a lot of recipes sending stuff to my Trello with them, very handy.

If you want to have your own personal IFTTT running on a VPS/Dedi, Huginn is worth a look: https://github.com/cantino/huginn It's written in Ruby, which I know turns some people off (seriously, it's just a lang) but it can be used in the middle to fill the gaps where IFTTT doesn't quite fit the bill, or on its own to do pretty much anything you can code an agent for.

These look great. That's one thing I've been trying to figure out with IFTTT - how to do something like "If there is a new RSS post AND that post doesn't contain these keywords" then "spin with WordAi" then "post to your blog". IFTTT can do the RSS -> blog, but can't quite handle an API call in the middle that would filter it and spin it.

    for $10 bucks a month, http://fptraffic.com/ + IFTTT = a great little setup

You have it post photos automatically to your FB Page.
Ever New Post on your Money Site Blog, Have it Send it to the FB page

then any new pictures/post on the fb page gets send out to twitter/tumblr/blogger ect ect.
Thats how i go about it at-least.

I just got rereminded about this post from @JimKata's mention of it in your case study so I'll add some Zapier ones too:

For both of these using their webhook app you can post to your own API which calls the WordAi API and then posts it back to Zapier where it can make a post on your blog for an easy autoblog setup.

You can also do something like
RSS -> Webhook which scrapes the URL from the RSS and spins it and posts it back to Zapier -> Blog

Another interesting thing you could do here is auto scale your servers with Digital Ocean. For instance if your server ever goes above a specific load you could have it webhook to Zapier which would then create a snapshot of one of your current droplets and then create a new server from that snapshot. It looks like they are adding in Analytics soon you could even do it where you add another server automatically if a certain number of visitors are on your site and then take that server back down once things have died down a little bit.

I love your tutorial videos Matthew! I refer back to them from time to time, especially like the GSA one - one day when I get around to buying it, I'll be using your link and following the step-by-step you did.

Here are a couple cool ones.

Sync your Facebook profile pic with other social media accounts.

Tweet new followers thanking them for the follow.

Post tweets to a Slack room.

For link vendors use Zapier to create Trello cards for new Wufoo forms.

@seoguru very nice thanks. I have a question if you don't mind. You to repost Wordpress to Facebook, since my sites are self-hosted, not Wordpress.com, do I use my site rss to make this happen or is there some way of adding/monitoring my own WP sites for Facebook (or any other) recipes? Thanks
EDIT: Nevermind - just realised it works with self-hosted sites. I always assumed it was wordpress.com sites only, or maybe it was in the early days and I never rechecked for updates.
