So here is an update straight from MSM The standings are pretty much where they were before the fire. Some notes on the colors: Green is my most important KWs, all on page one, A-OK (very little chance of any of these to go higher than 4, really) RED are ones I want to expand on. Orange ones are funny. I'd like to rank for them, but I have no real content built for those KWs. Getting rank 3 and 1 here is ...odd? Blue is the same.. getting rank without content... but I will heavily build on this. ::emp::
Some more info: (From Dallas, this is 2.14 seconds) Getting page size down is next step, don't even know if I will dive into the REquests ::emp::
Small update.. all my tracked KWs in one graph .. see a trend? As an aside, this is a graph I'd LOVE to see in MSM - @cardine? ::emp::
We actually do offer this! Just go to the website page, select all of the keywords you want together on a graph and click "Graph Selected Keywords"
For some reason the whole "website" section escaped me. The man is right: Now that the rankings are back to normal (and stable) it si time to improve them! Working on 2 new articles right now. ::emp::
Small update, let's look at the keywords first. Google graph (just a bit more than 2 weeks now) And since yabing stopped eating glue long enough to notice the page, there is 7 days from them: And here is the organic search traffic from January until now. As you can see, the site has been picked up by users as well, still not as nice as before. Next steps: - Finishing touches on the first article for a KW I am ranking for, but have basically no content for (just a half sentence here or there). - GWM setup, again! For some reason it is Google eating glue here, dropping some of my sites for no reason. - Create Masterplan! ::emp::
Just back from a 2 week, nearly internetless vacation. Little site generated a few more leads during. Nice. Checking the rankings now. ::emp::
OK.. here wqe go EVERYTHING in a jumbled mess: And now the breakdown (Look at the images for commentary) Localization effects: Diet! And some funny ones: All in all - so good, so boring, let's see if I can shake it up in the next months leadung up to the post Xmas craze. ::emp::
OK.. hardest part right now.. looking at your stuff and determining what needs improvement A 5-part video log of a girl using a stomach balloon is GONE from youtube. She was all you wanted for this... pretty enough, upbeat, optimistic, and succesful in her diet endeavor. No replacement in sight, goddammnit. 1. Think of replacement "experience" content 2. Mobile enhancements 3. Replace BMI script 4. Design tweaks 5. English translation 6. Better visuals 7. Location content 8. Nutrition guide 9. Blog content plan So far, I am running into the old ideas of recipes, fitness tips, etc.. Need to look into that. Also reuse / recycle / link out into social media. 10. Get a few infographics made ::emp:: more ideas?
Are there any other scripts like that which would be worthwhile? Like a TDEE calculator or something like that?
Get some links! Redesign the site, it looks not trustworthy. Compare it to the competitor site where the EMD gets redirected to, which looks way more trustworthy. Or compare it to American/UK lead-gen sites in the health niche. Quick wins: Switch from full-width to a page template with right hand sidebar. Move the opt-in form to the sidebar. Add a small, additional optin form inline on the LP Change color of headings and sub headings to blue. Change background color of site to white. Ad a symbol to the logo like the competitor site has and also switch font color to blue. I assume your client doesn't want to put his headshot on the site like the competitor does, but add at least some social sharing buttons to the sidebar to create trust with the well-known logo of FB. Additionally offer an ebook or report (lead magnet) in the sidebar to get more leads, similar to this example: http://i.imgur.com/XqGQ0Uv.png Ideally: Switch template to a more professional looking one.
Get some links! Will do Redesign the site, it looks not trustworthy. Compare it to the competitor site where the EMD gets redirected to, which looks way more trustworthy. Or compare it to American/UK lead-gen sites in the health niche. I don't get that impression, also, the site you are referring to is a pure doc site... no lead gen. Maybe you have some examples for "good" sites you'd like to share? Quick wins: Switch from full-width to a page template with right hand sidebar. Already done, the sub-pages use a sidebar. Move the opt-in form to the sidebar. Add a small, additional optin form inline on the LP See above Change color of headings and sub headings to blue. Agree, I am still working on the colors. Ad a symbol to the logo like the competitor site has and also switch font color to blue. Agreed I assume your client doesn't want to put his headshot on the site like the competitor does, but add at least some social sharing buttons to the sidebar to create trust with the well-known logo of FB. People are not going to share this (too personal / embarassing), I think. Additionally offer an ebook or report (lead magnet) in the sidebar to get more leads, similar to this example: http://i.imgur.com/XqGQ0Uv.png Agreed. Thanks for the input @phrench ::emp::
It's not a lead gen site, but it conveys trust and authority. IMHO your site lacks this and I assume you could increase your conversion rate big time by having a better LP. I don't think it's a thing of increasing the CR 20-30%, it's more about doubling or tripling the CR. Good LP examples: http://unbounce.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/photos/double-chin-th.jpg http://unbounce.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/photos/bpp-law-school-th.jpg Real life examples in the health niche: https://anon.to/cmxxFU converts at 6.9% in a competetive niche https://anon.to/J8hXX1 converts at 7.4% in a competetive niche, while the LP isn't even as good as the previous one What's your CR? You have literally no competition in the organic SERPs and the paid competition is from foreign sites. You should convert at 15-30% Visitors for the main keyword don't land on the sub pages.. Compare your LP to the examples above. See the difference in how they appeal to you? Install https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/ and override the CSS, it's a matter of 5 minutes. Although my advice would be to switch to a professional theme. Or try to copy the layout of the LP examples above. Use doctor headshot, bulletpoints, opt-in form in the right sidebar, nice colors, paragraphs and boxes for better structure etc. True, but it's about trust. The FB logo conveys trust. Better would be to have the headshot of the doctor and some medical logos/symbols like in the first real life example. I don't mean to sound harsh, but it hurts me seeing how you spend so much time with this case study caring about rankings while you have only 1 backlink and the site itself is suboptimal. I normally don't bother replying that much online, but since I know you personally I really mean to help
Funnily enough, I am capturing enough traffic for this very small and local niche... Lemme see about CTR Conversion is about 5% ... which yes, could be improved, but is not that far below the 6.9% you quoted. The American landing pages are exactly what NOT to do in Europe, in my opinion, but your live LP examples are nice. As for the CSS, that is no problem at all. I am braining about the colors I want to use, not about how to. As for the backlinks... several sites that used to carry ma backlinks have dropped or been redesigned completely (killing forums, etc..) so I need to grab new ones. " you spend so much time with this case study.." LOL - nope.. Seriously, I have spent a few hours over the last 2 year on this. Which shows in parts, I have to say. All in all, you have given me some very good ideas here, I'll report back. ::emp::
