Finally able to work more on everything, including this.

    1) I've built about 5 more money pages today - mixing the text I copy elsewhere with images from popular Pinterest boards on the exact subject, at the same time pulling related tweets and feeds onto the page too. Each page ends up having at least 2K words and 30 images, and I plan to add more to them later.

    2) As I was building pages for high search volume keywords finding good content was easy. However, as I'm moving to pages covering longer-tail keywords I need to spend more and more energy digging out decent content. The final product, however, has all the info on the longer-tail query in one place and that's what I'm expecting Goog to reward me for. Looks like I will have to focus on some medium/short-tail keywords more: content on less popular topics is often scattered and syndication is logical and needed. Sounds obvious but I wasn't thinking of it until starting my research.

    3) I'll be starting social action with IFTTT tomorrow, posting some nice recipes here as I create them. Right now my goal is to set up hands-free blog and social media activity ASAP so I can hunt for some nicer links while the site grows.

    4) All indexed; no ranks.

Started setting up IFTTT. Created accounts and connected the following channels:

    - Pinterest
    - Tumblr
    - Twitter
    - Wordpress (the actual case study site)
    - Reddit
    - 500px
    - Dailymotion
    - Youtube
    - Facebook pages

Then I disabled link shortening in Preferences (IFTTT shortener looks nasty and screams "spam", at least to me):

    The first recipes I created:

    1) New search results photo on 500px -> Pinterest board pin. Placing an image link back to my homepage with each pin.

    2) New post on Tumblr I follow -> New image tweet. I'm following cool stuff on Tumblr so...

    3) New post on a certain subreddit -> New tweet. These always work well - user generated content from reddit reposted to twitter engages twitter users. Used metareddit.com to find the a subreddit active enough for that. No link back to the site here, this is just to get twitter followers.

    4) Same as above for about 5 more subreddits; I'm setting these to repost people's questions with several large hashtags so I get some twitter replies and work with those. I'm also pushing my own brand-related hashtag.

    5) New post on a subreddit -> Pin to Pinterest board. My link in a pin description.

    4) New search result post on reddit -> New tweet. This one links to my site a-la "read more @ URL".

    5) New Twitter search result -> New tweet by me. Retweeting the same text but forcing my brand hashtag and linking to my home. Brutal I know! /UPDATE - disabled this one after several hours, posts too often. I need a less frquent searchphrase for this to work/

    6) New liked video on YouTube -> New published post on my site. Still depends on me liking the vids manually but I think I can press a button several times a week.

This is the first batch of recipes that promote only the homepage (the general broadest topic of the site). I will tweak them once I see how frequent they are, maybe add some more. My goal here is to have my Twitter and Pinterest accounts produce appealing and engaging content about every half hour.

Coming next: recipes posting to my own blog; recipes posting topical content promoting different moneypages.

I've never really checked out IFTTT, but those recipes look awesome. There was a "100% automation" case study I had planned sometime in the next month or so and I was thinking I was going to have to do quite a bit of custom coding, but it looks like almost everything I was looking to do can be done with IFTTT recipes.

Wow! Very impressive! I've always loved IFTTT but never really used it to it's full potential. Thanks for posting these, shit like this really gets the creative juices flowing.

You could definitely write a little script with casperjs and run a cron to like whatever videos you'd like from a bunch of different channels that might have niche related content. Manual is probably the way to go for T1(Could always just save to draft though.) but maybe for a T2 site.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah I prefer to filter everything I post on the site manually.

So far - Twitter & Pinterest accounts are growing with followers and content, the domain has gotten some 300 social media mentions all in all. I'll start some authority profile/content curation sites/lists/etc. link building over the weekend, and I'll post some details then.

My tumblr blog and facebook fan pages grows with pure automation from day 1. Only my tumblr blog reaches 18k followers after a year and still climbing.

Boy did I neglect this thread :) Time for an update!

I checked my social profiles and they've been growing nicely (totally automatic, had no time to login and check even) - here's Twitter and Pinterest:

I got about 600 indexed mentions of my domain on social media ("mydomain.tld" -inurl:"mydomain.tld") so that's something already - and I will start building actual links now. My self-appointed deadline is approaching, the site is not ranking for any fat keywords yet so I want to kick it up a notch.

I've asked my VA to start building some profiles for the "money" pages of the site, - each page will get about 5-10 profile links and I'll hit them with something like automated bookmarks. When I say "profiles" I mean actual profiles like twitter, imgur, youtube, vimeo, linkedin etc. to other property types like lists, content curation platforms (paper.li, list.ly, scoop.it) to more and more stuff like crowdfunding sites, bookmarks and what not. I've got a list of over 200 authority sites that let you place some sort of a link or a mention so I plan to use as many as possible here. Each "money" page of the site will get unique profiles so I won't be repeating host domains.

While that is being done I'll build out the rest of the "money" pages (i.e. pages that will be ranked for a specific higher-volume keyword) this week. Starting from next week I'll set up some blog autoposting scenarios for my site.

Adding all that content and links should give me a start so I can get a bit more aggressive later.

I also want to create some time and work on growing my Twitter account properly - interact with some authority players, leech some of their views and followers, that kind of stuff.

That's a nice traffic you got there! What niche is it?

Dzianis, can you elaborate a bit on your IFTTT recipes involving Reddit? I set up a few of them with my subject, but they never run for some reason.
    I tried both:
If any new post in /r/keyword, then add Pin to board
If new hot post in /r/keyword, then post a tweet with image to @profile

    Is there anything I'm missing?

This thread is crying for an update and I'll finally have some time. So, here's an update:

This site does not rank yet. It definitely does not rank as much as a regular site with well-written content would.

I'm getting a bit impatient here so I will start building links actively and increase the link velocity. Either my assumption was wrong and the site containing strictly duplicate content can't rank, or it just needs more links. Whatever it is I'm OK facing the facts :) If I don't see even a single "in top 100" position after doing basic stuff I won't be moving to anything more advanced and time-consuming like outreach. I'd rather start a journal on one of my main projects.

    * * *

This week I've had about 30 profiles on popular sites built - stating with Twitter and Youtube going through Quora and LinkedIn to smaller sites. The profiles all promote 4 main pages of the site.

Today I started dripping some automated links with GSA SER to the profiles. Automated tiered links definitely work on sites and parasites with original content so I'll see where this takes me.

You can see why they don't run if you click "view recipe logs":

Sometimes the content posted on one channel does not match your requirements. E.g. on my subreddit I'm interested in images, and when there's no image in the reddit post the recipe does not run:

Sometimes the channels need to be reconnected. I'm not sure what your case is, - check the logs and PM me if you wish I'll try to help if I can.

...Also make sure you are actually pulling valid subreddits, I've re-read your post and noticed your "/r/keyword" thing - it does not work that way, you need to specify an actual subreddit. Which is great because there are so many subreddits that may allow you do crazy effective crossposting. You can see what subreddits are related to your keywords @ http://metareddit.com

That's not traffic, just Twitter views. Since my Twitter is syndicating tons of nice images they get a lot of views.

The niche is human body-related :)

Yeah there is nothing wrong with a case study that ends without ranking, especially if you did everything you set out to do. Knowing that something doesn't work is just as important as knowing that something does!

Yep. I'll abandon this if it does not move. But I'll try something heavier first.

    ---

I've just set up automated posts to be published to my site in all the directories. Used IFTTT again, repeating the following template several times:

Reddit keyword search -> Wordpress post (title, image embed, no link back to the source, hardcoded anchored link back to the category archive)

I've also added some video content using Vimeo keyword search as the content trigger.

This is definitely not subtle, it's some autoblogging porn - but it will keep the Googlebot coming back to my site.

I've also created an IFTTT recipe that takes all the new entries from my blog feed and puts them into a g-drive spreadsheet:

I've set up a GSA SER drip and I'll be taking all the new posts from the spreadsheet daily (I had about 20 posted already) and appending the target list in the GSA SER project. Basically I'm hitting all urls of my site evenly with URL-anchored links, running through some bookmarks and forums' list I've scraped before.

All this massive content production and new links should definitely start throwing the site up and down in ranks. Unless, again, this just can't happen :)

After two days of dripped links and dripped blog posts (all duplicate content of course) the site is finally on the radar ...on Bing:

BTW, Zapier lets you introduce delays so that you don't post too often (eg. "check twitter search every 2 days").

It also lets you post to your Wordpress blog as a Draft so that you can review it before publishing.

Yep, Zapier has more options regarding posting frequency. Also a lot more platforms (e.g. Trello) which makes it worth the payment.

(IFTTT can post to draft too though)

I'm looking closely at Zapier for the first time, and just the webhook app alone would make it worth it for me. Would let me very easily for instance take a post from Reddit -> Webhook which spins content and posts to Zapier webhook -> takes content and posts to blog
