Defining goals is a fundamental component of any digital analytics measurement plan. Having properly configured goals allows Analytics to provide you with critical information, such as the number of conversions and the conversion rate for your site or app.

Goals measure how well your site or app fulfills your target objectives.

Without this information, it's almost impossible to evaluate the effectiveness of your online business and marketing campaigns.

The goal of google analytics is to manage your marketing campaigns based on the different matrices like CPC, CPM etc. As google analytics can be synced with your site and then it gives you data regarding your visitors like how much time they are spending on your site, what is the bounce rate. This helps you make improvement in your content & website.

Google Analytics lets you measure your advertising ROI as well as track your Flash, video, and social networking sites and applications.

Goals are used to track conversions in Google Analytics. By tracking the goals we can understand the lead sources and other factors.
